Promise Bookmarks for Girl Guides of Canada

Hello friends! Someone posted a comment on here asking me if I had a Promise bookmark for Sparks. Well, I did have bookmarks from several years ago but could not find my files.  So, I made some new updated Promise bookmarks using the latest clip-art from Girl Guides of Canada. I made files for Sparks, Brownies, and Guides.

Promise bookmarks for Pathfinders, Rangers, and Guiders

These are more durable if printed on cardstock and/or laminated
or glued to some type of cardboard such as cereal box or bristol board.

Punch a hole at the top for a tassel 
{made from yarn, ribbon, or embroidery floss etc}  

An option is to allow the girls to colour the words before laminating.

GGC Brownies Badges

Some of you from countries outside of Canada are wondering what our Canadian badges look like.  I've posted the GGC Guide badges and now here are the GGC Brownie badges. {stay tuned for the next post featuring GGC Sparks badges} 

*Please note the Brownie keys below do not have writing...they are just the titles. I also updated the pages to show the actual key badges.

Brownies Promise & Law Minibooks

These little minibooks are great for Brownies. Brownie age girls may need assistance with the folding and cutting but they can read and colour the pages on their own. Use the Brownies Promise and Law minibooks in a Lapbook or just on their own.

Two of our Guides earned the Campfire Leading Badge. Afterwards, we did song requests then a "Dance-off".

More crafting before and after Breakfast...

Flower Loom weaving...this craft required assistance.  Some flowers were made after supper...some made during the movie...some made in the morning.  It took about 20 minutes to make one since it was their first time using the flower loom.

Bagel Bird Feeder...attach a string...smear with peanut butter...roll in bird seed...hang up on a tree branch. Easy and quick!

Fire Owl and White Owl did the cooking.

Pancakes & syrup, bacon, mini banana muffins, 

fruit, juice, milk.  It was sooooo good!

Overall, the sleepover was really fun.  These things take alot of organization.  I did the paperwork and a craft...Fire Owl purchased the food and secured a location...Guider Krista brought the stuff for S'mores...White Owl got the projection for the movie and prepared crafts...and we all had input into the kitlist and meal plans {including the leaders who could not stay at the sleepover}.

Thank you to Fire Owl's parents for allowing us to have the sleepover at their lovely home on the beach.  It was a fantastic location...A great way to end our Guiding Season! 

{NOTE:There will be a District Camp available for Brownies/Guides/Pathfinders in July.  Guider Krista will be attending so we hope some of our girls will take the opportunity to get some camping experience}

{You may notice most of the photos are converted to cartoon...I did this to respect the wishes of some parents whom prefer to have their child's image protected.  We can still see the pics of the event but not a detailed face.  If any parents do not wish to have even the cartoon version displayed please contact me and I will either remove or blur the image.}

Yardsale Haul- Brownie book

I found this little book at a yardsale years ago....can't exactly remember where I got it though.  My niece just got married on Saturday ,19 May, so I thought this post would be appropriate.

Yesterday was a busy morning with three fleamarkets!  This was the only Girl Guide related item that I had found.  I had posted a mug like this before but this one is in mint condition.  I wonder if GGC will come out with any new merchandise to coordinate with the new uniform colours.  That would be nice...I find that there isn't too much merchandise to choose from at the Online store. {and with the $9 shipping charge, whether the order consists of one tiny badge or not,  it is not feasible to shop as often as I did at our Provincial store. It is too bad that all the Provincial stores closed...the online shopping is not for everyone.}

UPDATE TO THE SHIPPING PROCESS: This makes more sense!

For small earned badge orders (not insignia or emblems) under 100 grams and less than $10 in total value, S&H is $2.00. These orders will be mailed out. 

Brownies Key To Girl Guides

The Brownies played a World Flag relay game to help them learn about the meaning behind all the parts of the World flag.  There were two groups of Brownies and they had to go through and obstacle course to retrieve the pieces of the World Flag puzzle.  Each group had two dice , a world flag card {purchased from the GGC store for $0.15}, and a card listing the pieces of the puzzle with a corresponding number.  The girls had to roll the dice to determine which piece of the puzzle they had to retrieve {they continued to roll until they got a number that wasn't already played}.  Then they had to go through the obstacle course and retrieve the piece from an Owl leader but they had to say the meaning of the piece before it was given to them...for example they would say "I need the flame that represents love and humanity" or " I need the leaves that represent the three fold promise" etc. One of our Guides came to the Brownies' meeting to set up the relay game as part the Leadership component of the Guide Program.

The Four World Centres

World Centres fruit salad...another fun and easy game to play to learn about the four World Centres.  Arrange chairs in a large spread out circle. One chair per person sitting and one person stands in the middle.  Everyone is given a name of one of the World Centres...try to spread out the names so that there is close to an even number of each Centre distributed among the players. Then the person standing in the center of the circle calls out a World Centre...then all those who have been given that name must change seats {but you can't sit in the seat right next to where you last sat}.  The person in the center of the circle has to run for a seat too...thus creating a new caller in the center.  If "World Centres" is called then everyone must change seats.   

This type of game can be used for any subject {food names, constellations, LadyBP/BP/Agnes etc. Anything would work.  {Some kids...and leaders...forget which group they were assigned to so I think I will make up a set of cards with different names to hand out just to help us to remember!}  Add actions to the group names to slow things down.
