Sparks 30th Anniversary Doodle 2019

Hello Owl and Toadstool friends!
Here is my doodle to celebrate thirty years of Sparks in Canada.

For those of you who are not familiar with Sparks they are
the youngest members of Girl Guides of Canada {GGC}.
This is the branch for girls aged 5-6 years old.

The  national  launch of Sparks was January 03, 1989.

The first Sparks Unit in Canada was registered in Stoney Creek, Ontario.

"1989 Sparks (first for five year olds, and later six year olds as well) was launched. In the mid-seventies, there were test programs for younger girls - known as Busy Bees in Alberta, Squirrels in Prince Edward Island, and Moonbeams in Manitoba. They were successful but when the Brownie age was lowered to six in 1979, the need for another group lessened." Source

This is the modern Sparks uniform.  All of the GGC youth uniforms look the same with the coloured trim signifying each branch. Pink for Sparks, brown for Brownies, blue for Guides, green for Pathfinders, and red for Rangers.

The Girl Guides Online Store has a t-shirt available to celebrate 30 years of Sparks.  It looks almost the same as the original Sparks uniform t-shirt {but the original did not have writing on the sleeves}. The shirt has the Sparks promise on the front.

Congratulations Sparks
on turning the big 30 !

Here's to many more years
of sharing and being a friend!
